  • To create a familiar sculpture in the University Commons, we transformed the building into the spiritual symbol of our institute.

  • In this picture, the University Commons is located on the lawn, which represents Taiwan and symbolizes the concept of engaging in curriculum design and instruction. The ocean north of Taiwan, a vivid image, absorbs living organisms from the Tamsui River. In the background of the picture, the cloud is a world map that conveys a global perspective.

  • To promote local education and community care, the University Commons at our institute contains an observation deck from which visitors can view the surrounding area. This shows our global perspective and local commitment.

  • This picture shows various tools on a desk. A paperweight is on top of a scroll, beside a dictionary and eraser. A ruler and notebook paper are in the background. A fountain pen is pressed by a transparent slide. A world map is behind the pen.

  • A sailboat is pictured. The boat’s bow represents Northern Taiwan, where our three university campuses are located (in Tamsui, Taipei, and Lanyang). A wharf is pictured to the left of the boat, and the graben of Lanyang is pictured to the right of the boat. A lighthouse appears in front of the boat, and the sun and clouds appear in the sky.

  • In conclusion, our institute aspires to be a “marine education center.” By using various learning materials, our institute functions in the manner of a sailboat, enabling students to navigate their education.

Our institute incorporates various elements from Tamkang University, including transportation (mass rapid transit), nature (clouds and the Tamsui River), boat and ship architecture, sculptures, art, and culture, to symbolize the power of a wave, and then steps out toward the world from the Bronze Sculpture of the Five Tigers.
